The 2017 recipient of The Chris Wallace Award for Outstanding Research, Haris Aziz, presented at ACSW 2017.

The 2017 Award recipients have been announced:
We congratulate the following for their excellent achievements.

The 2017 John Hughes Distinguished Service Award (awarded bi-annually) is awarded jointly this year to two distinguished members of the Australasian Computer Science community: to Katrina Falkner from University of Adelaide for her outstanding leadership in Computer Science education, and to Justin Zobel for his many years as an outstanding leader of Computer Science locally, nationally and internationally, including a period of service as President of CORE.

Haris Aziz from Data61 and UNSW, is the recipient of the 2017 Chris Wallace Research award, for a substantial breakthrough in resource allocation, attracting widespread media interest;

Sven Venema from Griffith University, is the 2017 recipient of the CORE teaching award, for his innovative teaching practices engaging and involving students;

Sara Khalifa from University of New South Wales is the 2017 recipient of the John Makepeace Bennett award for the Australasian Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation, “Energy-Efficient Human Activity Recognition for Self-powered Wearable Devices”.

Zhe Hou from Australian National University receives a commendation for his dissertation, title "Labelled Sequent Calculi and Automated Reasoning for Assertions in Separation Log which was ranked very close to that of the winner.

The awards will be presented at ACSW in Geelong, Feb 1st-3rd 2017.

Decisions of each committee will be available in early December with all applicants/nominees notified of outcomes.
